Thanks to generous funding from the City & County of Honolulu the Oahu Safe Farms Initiative is providing food safety training, infrastructure capacity building funds, and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certification preparation for local food producers.
Participants will attend an advanced food safety infrastructure workshop followed by workshops on:
– Record-keeping & Traceability
– Employee Training
– Worker Protection Standards Training
Each participating farm will receive up to $5,000 to spend on food safety, business and technology infrastructure on their farm to help build long-term capacity to produce and distribute food more safely, and expand access to larger markets such as institutions, retail sales, and new direct-to-consumer channels.
